Capcom: No Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom in US, Blame Domestic Licensors

ImageTatsunoko vs. Capcom is a highly regarded Capcom fighting game in the vein of the near legendary Vs series of Capcom crossover games, based mainly on the fact that many of Tatsunoko’s seminal characters are included as playable fighters such as Ken the Eagle, Casshern, Tekkaman, Yatterman-1 (Gan-chan), Polymar, Gold, Doronjo, Karas, Hakushon Daimao, Jun the Swan, and Ippatsuman.

Now comes confirmation from Capcom’s Seth Killian that the game will not be launched in the US due to 13 domestic companies that hold individual rights to Tatsunoko characters and properties noting that some are attentive to licensing while others are not, making the possibilities of release by Capcom nil.

The confirmation also comes after an initial October 2008 statement alluding to Capcom USA willing to conduct the necessary work to clear domestic license issues in order to clear the games release.

However, the slim possibility exists that the game will eventually released in a manner similar to CROSS x EDGE by Nippon Ichi which features characters from Capcom, Namco, Idea Factory, Gust, and Compile Heart.
