Digimon Adventure 02 Now on Funimation Video

Funimation has updated their video service with subtitled episodes from Toei’s Digimon Adventure 02.

The series was initiallly streamed on the download-to-own service Direct2Drive with unsuccessful results as Toei quietly ended that phase of their online strategy as people who purchased the episodes noticed the poor quality of the encodes as well as the relative expense on top of region and file restrictions.

The series was then streamed by CrunchyRoll last year, where the video was visibly improved.

Funimation’s stream of the series is demonstrably better but reflects the version streamed on CrunchyRoll as colors are muted and flat, but the video lacks the visible macroblocking, color bleeding and tearing of the Direct2Drive versions.
