Source?
The original source is GhibliWorld but it has since been picked up by AN News Blog and ANN.
Our editorial policies are not to post sources unless the news is exclusive to the originating site
That seems a bit questionable if the information wasn’t uncovered, publicly announced, or independently verified.
It seems to me that in internet parlance, not crediting a source implies that you produced the information.
To be fair, I never meant to imply that the site had “made up” the news. I just hadn’t seen it cross my news wire and was curious as to origination.
From my respective, I caught animenews.biz recently, and I’m really keen on it, but if I can’t tell what been generated here, versus what’s been repurposed from elsewhere, then it becomes a lot less useful to me.
The reason we don’t normally post sources is based on the nature of the information uncovered. Since the original site posted the information and other news organizations picked up on it, I felt it unnecessary to post the link to the original site. This practice is common in online news media and is known as triangulation.
Since it causes confusion, going forward we will link to any relevant sites when reporting news. I’ve gone ahead and added the link to the original site which posted the information, in order to clear up any confusion.
Sounds appropriate. Thanks for the update.
