Announcements from Funimation at NYCC:

  • Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple Season 1 Part 1 slated on March 10th
  • D-Gray Man Season 1 Part 1 slated on March 31st
  • Samurai 7 Blu-Ray boxset slated on February 24th
  • Shigurui Complete Series Boxset slated on March 31st on DVD/Blu-Ray
  • Tokyo Majin Seaon 1 Part 1 slated on April 24th
  • Romeo x Juliet now available on Funimation’s video site subbed, dub cast list coming soon.
  • Love Hina slated on February 24th in a complete boxset that includes all of the specials

Funimation also touched on a few production related matters, such as the continual tweaking of Sgt. Frog based on the YouTube test episode, and the work on Eva 1.01 with Funimation working to round up the original cast.  Regarding the status of Geneon properties, priority on those has shifted behind the above mentioned properties, with the company working to complete as much of the former Geneon USA catalog as possible along with the desire to acquire the subsequent seasons of Shakugan No Shana and Zero No Tsukaima.

Funimation also remarked that the slowing economy led them the the previously reported layoffs despite a 17% growth in product for the previous year, with preliminary plans to begin an internship program next year in order to accommodate continuous requests for employment.

    I’ve been in touch with Funimation on this and they reiterated what was stated at NYCC by the representative at the time. Obviously, things can change but that was what was given to the press when posed with the question of EVA casting and acquiring the rest of Shakugan no Shana. There are no assurances, but its better than being given a no comment.
