Funimation Sends C&Ds for Eva 1.0 and Other Series

The North American anime distributor FUNimation has confirmed on Monday that it issued cease-and-desist letters on behalf of its Japanese partners in Kadokawa, NTV, Media Factory, and TV Tokyo to stop the unauthorized distribution of the Evangelion: 1.0 You (Are) Not Alone, Soul Eater, Spice + Wolf, Mushi-Uta, and My Bride is a Mermaid! projects.  

Funimation has stated that it has authorization agreements with TV Tokyo Medianet to send these letters. NTV holds international licensing rights to Evangelion: 1.0 You (Are) Not Alone on behalf of Studio Khara, with rumors that Funimation has been in negotiations for the aforementioned film as well as the above-mentioned series. 

This is not without precedent for the distributor as it has sent C&D orders for Gonzo properties on behalf of the animation studio, which has led to a domestic license of many Gonzo properties such as D-Gray Man this past May.
