The ever popular Hobby Search merchandise portal, known for its extensive selection of figures and other anime related merchandise has a message stating that it has pulled adult oriented PVC figures, toys and magazines, erotic games and adult manga from general sale with waiting-list emails and newsletters for those items cancelled as well.
The change, effective since November 4th is due to the site adding PayPal to its list of payment options, with the payment processor enforcing a strict policy against the sale of adult oriented goods and services.
I wonder if this is a one-off event or if other Japanese merchandise portals that sell adult goods will take up PayPal as a payment option, even though they risk losing a dedicated international clientele that actively collects such merchandise for the sake of facilitating international orders.
This does not affect adult merchandise orders posted before the November 4th cutoff, with those orders continuing to be processed as normal until all are processed and the site will continue to use another third-party payment processor for credit card orders instead of depending solely on PayPal for all types of transactions.
