Kannagi Author in Near Failing Health (Updated)
According to a by Saiyuki manga author Kazuya Minekura who is a close associate of Kannagi author Eri Takenashi, the author is in such poor health to the point where she is unable to move her body.
This places the made by former Kannagi publisher ComicRex in an ominous context, as it was widely speculated that the author ceased work not for health reasons, but for issues relating to fan outrage regarding details on the protagonists’ virtue as well as other major plot points brought into the series which did not please the typical male audience of the manga and companion TV show.
ComicRex has suspended all work related to Kannagi while Takenashi suspended other work related to DVD extras for the first DVD volume of the TV series. It is not known whether the currently airing TV series will be affected.

Update: The ComicRex publisher has an update on the condition of Takenashi’s condition, stating that the author is recovering from emergency surgery, and has stated a desire to return to writing Kannagi. The company has left it up to the author to explain the specifics of her health issues.
