Media Blasters Further Delays Voltron, Moribito and Doujin Work

media blasters logo Media Blasters Further Delays Voltron, Moribito and Doujin WorkMedia Blasters has quietly further delayed three of its titles as a result of the contracting retail market for anime DVDs brought on by Best Buy’s decrease in wholesale purchases stemming from lower sales and the slowing economy.

The three titles affected are the seventh boxset of Voltron: Defender of the Universe, now slated for a release on March 24th, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, now slated for a release on February 28th from its February 10th street date, and Doujin Work also slated for the 28th from its original street date of January 27th.

When first asked about the delays in shipping the titles to retailers, CEO John Sirabella confirmed on Mania Anime that many of the delays were due to the shrinking retail market for DVDs as well as reductions affecting other distributors, compounded with shelf space reductions which AnimeNews.biz first reported on while the Voltron delays were a matter of a lack of production materials due to the age of the series.
