Oldboy Manga Feature Film Adaptation Apparently Dead
According to showbiz blog , the planned feature film adaptation of the Oldboy manga by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya planned by Steven Spielberg and Will Smith is dead due to the proposed rights deal with production studio Mandate along with Dreamworks falling though, with DreamWorks walking away from the deal.
This follows earlier issues with the rights to the animation adaptation of the manga where an “unamed American production studio” sued Futabasha for not having the rights to sell the animation adaptation rights earlier this year.
