Otakon to Screen Eva 1.0 and Feature Animator As Convention Guest

The Otakon anime convention has announced that it will screen the first film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone during the convention being held the weekend of July 17th-19th at Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Two screenings are scheduled on Friday, July 17th at 8 p.m. and Saturday,  July 18th at 12:30 p.m, with key animator Hidenori Matsubara who is a part of Anno’s team from both the original series and the current movies also being a guest at the convention.

Synopsis of Eva 1.0:

After the second impact, all that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that’s being attacked by “Angels” — giant creatures that seek to eradicate humankind. After not seeing his father for more than eight years, Shinji Ikari receives a phone call, in which he is ordered to report to NERV headquarters, where he must train to fight the Angels through the use of giant humanoid mechas called Evas. Shinji’s objective is to pilot the Eva Unit 01, while teaming up with the Eva Unit 00 pilot, Ayanami Rei — all under the watchful gaze of his distant father.
