As expected, Sony has rolled out PSP firmware update 6.20, which includes the Comics Reader application ahead of the official launch of the comics rental service next month in the US, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan. Mainland Europe will be getting the service in 2010 with French, Italian, German and Spanish access.
As expected, (and to clarify ) the Comics Reader service in each region will offer comics from each region’s respective publishing houses and titles in one region will not be offered in another and vice-versa.
The update along with the comics reader marks the debut of the “Extras” column on the PSP, which will house non-gaming applications developed by third-parties and/or internally and integrated into future firmware updates.
