Sony Music Japan Shutting Down English Language Page

Visitors to Sony Music Japan’s English portal will now notice the following message when using the site:

“Dear,
It is so sudden, but SMOJ English site will be closing soon.
We appreciate your browsing our site, and finding favorite artists through it for these couple of years.
Hope you will keep on supporting our artists in the future.
Thank you so much.
Kindest regards,
Webmaster”

The Sony Music Online English portal was launched in 2007 as an English-language knowledgebase of current Sony Music Japan artists long before the closure of US subsidiary Tofu Records, which itself specialized in distributing Japanese artists which were featured in various anime properties sponsored by the Japanese megalabel such as TM Revolution, L Arc en Ciel, Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Oreskaband.

Former Tofu Records releases and post Tofu Records releases are now under a split distrubution agreement in North America between Sony/BMG’s Columbia Records and Epic Records.
