More Hunter x Hunter TV Series Details Confirmed (Updated)

First, Madhouse will be the animation studio that will handle production on the series
Second, the TV series will premiere on October 2nd via NTV at 10:55 AM JST. This follows previous confirmation of the series via leaked retailer instructions ahead of the release of the 29th volume this week in Japan and the continuation of the manga in this week’s issue. [via Saouri's Window]

Update: According to Mantan Web, the new series will be a new adaptation of the manga and will ignore both the 1999 pilot OVA and TV series as well as the subsequent OVA episodes. Hiroshi Koujina will direct the anime, Jun Maekawa will write the script, Takahiro Yoshimatsu is designing the characters while Toshio Nakatani is overseeing production. [via ANN]

Hunter X Hunter TV Series LeakMarketing materials leaked on the Hachima Kikou Esuteru BBS have revealed that the recently revived Hunter x Hunter franchise will have another TV series project tied to its current revival. The marketing material goes further, explaining that the 29th volume of the manga, slated for release on August 4th will be tied to the announcement of the new TV project.

The Hunter x Hunter manga has recently been revived as author Yoshiro Togashi slowly recovers from his latest lengthy hiatus due to illness, with the manga resuming next month in Weekly Shonen Jump around the same time as the release of the 29th manga volume.

The manga was previously adapted into 62 TV episodes and three successor OVA episodes that continue from where the TV series left off, as well as a pilot OVA episode that was used to introduce the characters in preparation for the eventual TV series. Viz Media previously released Hunter X Hunter in four complete boxsets, but has shown no interest in licensing the companion OVA episodes.
