[media-credit name="NIS America" align="aligncenter" width="572"]Neptunia_V_logo[/media-credit]NIS America has announced a March 2013 release date for the latest version of the Hyperdimension Neptunia strategy RPG on the Playstation 3. The game is the direct sequel to Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2, also on the Playstation 3.  The game features the following mechanics and additions from Mk2:

  • Dynamic Combat: Freely move units in battle to tackle foes! Set up your own combos, fill
up the EXE Drive gauge, and then deal “massive damage” with your finishing attacks!
  • Scout System: Send out scouts to explore and gather information on dungeons! Level
them up so they can find things you may have missed on your adventure!
  • Flag System: Break or repair “flag” triggers in dungeons to activate different events when
your scouts return from exploring! This can change enemy spawns or reveal new items!
  • Burn Game Discs: Obtain blank discs and burn different types of data onto them to
access hidden potentials! With the right combinations, you may even make a Godly
Game! It’s your chance to craft your own AAA title for Neptune and friends to equip!

Synopsis:
Several years after preventing Arfoire’s revival, Gamindustri has remained at peace
without any major issues. The CPUs and their younger sisters have been enjoying their
quiet lives for a while… Then one day, the CPU of Planeptune—Neptune—is sent to
another dimension. This new dimension feels very much like her own…except it has only
progressed to the Gamindustri of the 1980s. In this dimension, a group of villains calling
themselves the “Seven Sages” are trying to create a world without CPUs. With help from
her new friends, including that dimension’s CPU of Planeptune—Plutia—Neptune begins
her quest to protect a totally different Gamindustri in her brand-new adventure!

In a letter to investors, Nippon Ichi President Tomohiro Sato has announced his resignation from the company, effective March 31st, for what Sato calls “personal reasons”.

Nippon Ichi Software recently posted a 97% loss in operating income for the nine month period ending on January 2009 in comparison to the same period in 2008 in Japan, which sent the company’s stock price into freefall on the JASDAQ stock exchange.

The stock price which closed at ¥36,200 ($394.54) per share on February 5th, fell to a ¥7,000 drop ($78) on the 8th as the market reacted to the news by selling off the stock. The subsequent 20% drop in the stock price in turn forced the exchange to freeze the price before it could fall further and endanger the already fragile financial state of the developer.

The game developer and publisher’s US branch recently announced its intention to license and distribute anime in the US later this year beginning with Toradora! Pandora Hearts, Persona -trinity soul- andOur Home’s Fox Deity (Wagaya no Oinarisama). The resignation is not expected to affect those plans.

Update: Tomihiro Sato is the current head of sales and marketing for NIS Japan and is the person resigning in the letter sent to investors, while the current president and sometimes producer Sohei Shinkawa will not be stepping down. Apologies for the confusion.
