The official page for Koihime Mousou has confirmed the third season of the Romance of the Three Kindoms parody after the success of the OVA series which aired last season.

The new series in Shin Koihime Musou Otome Tairan will air in April of next year, with the franchise known for its subtle and not so subtle lesbian and erotic overtones which masked a derivative story and flat humor to compensate for a poor (or spot-on depending on your feelings towards H-games) adaptation of the source material.

Megami Confirms Second Season of Kanokon

ImageThe forthcoming August issue of Japan’s Megami Magazine being launched on Tuesday features an announcement stating that a new season of Kanokon is being slated for production according to the ever reliable 2channel.

Director Atsushi Otsuki will direct the animators at Xebec on the new project with further information to be confirmed on the launch of the issue.

Kanokon was a surprise hit of the Spring 2008 season, with the romantic comedy known for its raunchy situational humor almost overshadowing the plot line about a young first-year high school student who moves from the country to the city and thus transfers to a new high school where two girls who are revealed to be personifications of a fox and wolf spirit vie for his romantic affection.

Gonzo to Animate 2nd Season of Strike Witches

ImageThe inaugural issue of NewType spinoff publication NyanType will confirm on Thursday that Gonzo will produce the second season of Strike Witches.

The status of the second season had been placed in doubt due to the financial difficulties of the larger GDH conglomerate, to the point that Gonzo Digimation reduced staff from 130 to 30 employees last February in order to remain solvent as well as reducing output from 8 shows to 4 and ultimately absorbing the former conglomerate.

As a result of the addition of the Strike Witches second season, Gonzo has dropped the co-production arrangement made with AIC for the forthcoming Alive – Saishu- Shinka teki Sho-nen series, while keeping plans for The Tower of DRUAGA -the Sword of URUK-, Slap Up Party -Arad Senki-, Shangri-La, and Saki, suggesting that Gonzo has shored up enough funding for the aforementioned productions.

Funimation has also entered into an exclusive distribution arrangement with Gonzo, which has led to the licensing and availability of the first Strike Witches season among other recent Gonzo properties.

A NewType TV ad has confirmed the airing of the next Haruhi series in April along with the below cover image.

The magazine will detail production work on the new season and feature new interviews with the new production staff and light novel author.

Update: A Kadokawa representative has confirmed that the first season is going to be rebroadcast over UHF stations in Japan beginning in April, and that the group was not ready to announce a new series or anything related at this time.
