Strike Witches Manga on Hiatus, Author Voices Concerns
Jul 27th
Author Urotan has posted a on his site regarding the hiatus of the current Strike Witches serial being published in Comp Ace. Below is his statement on the serialization by Canned Dogs:
“I’ll just report about what has been happening recently
It has been really disorganized right from the start when I took the job, and against my wishes I wasn’t given a chance to do any preparations in advance and they abruptly did that announcement notice about the manga even though everything was in a bad state.
Even then I wanted everybody to enjoy the manga so I desperately worked myself to death to get that first chapter out.
But under those adverse circumstances that single chapter was the limit.
Right now I finally got to get into direct contact with the anime staff, and I have currently established a good relationship with them.
But on the topic of continuing the serialization, I really want to do it but the various problems that came up previously has left a significant psychological exhaustion on me, and I have decided that as my mental state is currently still unable to return to normal, I have to temporarily give up on continuing the manga.
Right now I am just extremely regretful that I am unable to deliver an enjoyable manga to everybody at the current optimal timing.
What happens after this is currently undetermined, but right now I only hope to get a little time off.
I’m really sorry to have gotten everybody concerned and worried for me.”

Gonzo to Animate 2nd Season of Strike Witches
Apr 28th
The inaugural issue of NewType spinoff publication NyanType will on Thursday that Gonzo will produce the second season of Strike Witches.
The status of the second season had been placed in doubt due to the financial difficulties of the larger GDH conglomerate, to the point that Gonzo Digimation reduced staff from 130 to 30 employees last February in order to remain solvent as well as reducing output from 8 shows to 4 and ultimately absorbing the former conglomerate.
As a result of the addition of the Strike Witches second season, Gonzo has dropped the co-production arrangement made with AIC for the forthcoming Alive – Saishu- Shinka teki Sho-nen series, while keeping plans for The Tower of DRUAGA -the Sword of URUK-, Slap Up Party -Arad Senki-, Shangri-La, and Saki, suggesting that Gonzo has shored up enough funding for the aforementioned productions.
Funimation has also entered into an exclusive distribution arrangement with Gonzo, which has led to the licensing and availability of the first Strike Witches season among other recent Gonzo properties.
